De Nieuwe Context is a research and design agency specializing in living spaces and residences.
We find our inspiration in the context—what already exists. We are guided by the wishes of the building’s users, existing architectural elements, the atmosphere, and the building’s history. The conditions, in the broadest sense of the word, determine our approach and starting point.
Intuition
In the new context, form and function go hand in hand. We believe strongly in the harmony between the user and the building. The preferences and expectations of residents and users should be reflected in the architectural elements. In the new context, sensory experience and intuition are more important than materials or square meters. Together with our clients, we create a new context within the existing one.
Story
A meaningful story is often our starting point. An old school, a former town hall, or a historic farmhouse—all carry traces of their past. We strive to preserve the character these buildings have acquired over the years, as it gives them identity, charm, and uniqueness. In the new context, we make space for the future—while honoring the stories and elements of the past.
Team
We are a small team with an eye for use and detail. We create unique designs at the intersection of interior design and architecture.
